Niche is nice - The Future of work, Part 1 of N
Social Networks are noisy. Chatter. Lots of it. Can’t see the woods for the trees. Who knew that I wasn’t capable of juggling 12000 ‘friends’?
What happens next? Niche networks of course. Smaller groups, more intimate, more focus.
Sounds sensible, right?
Case in point: At an Ashoka event on Tuesday evening I heard an overview of Africa Rural Connect. It’s a social platform for Africans, Africa Scholars, and Peace Corps Volunteers to co-create, ideate, and remix in an effort to address challenges in rural Africa.
Maybe this is the future of work? People collaborating on niche online networks, getting cool stuff done.
