The un-buzz

The first thing I did in my current role was to revise my organization’s U.S. internal Social Media guidance. This thrilling story was recently told at a conference; the presentation slides can be found here.

The revised guidance is short, consisting of 4 bullet points that speak to Employee behaviour while, hopefully, providing enough guidance so that people can actually get work done.

If you think about it a little bit though, the first two bullet points are probably pretty applicable to any new communications technology:

  • You are responsible for your behaviour
  • Understand the tools

So, you should ‘own’ the content you share, and you should understand how you’re sharing it through the tool you’ve chosen to use.
